6th Grade Egyptian Animals Scratch Art & Monochromatic Painting

We dabbled in a little bit of everything during this project. First we created contour outline drawings of animals significant to the Egyptian culture, then we added symmetrical and asymmetrical patterns to the inside. Once we were happy with our designs we recreated them using scratch art paper, painted a monochromatic background and put it all together. I'm very pleased with the results! ENJOY!

8th Grade Winter Painting

In honor of the cold temps and lots of snow, my 8th graders are using their monochromatic painting skills to create a winter landscape painting. We will be adding the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) to the sky using chalk pastels next.

2014 Powerful Portraits

7th grade students at WKMS have almost finished their Powerful Portrait creations. Using only POWERFUL words to create value using pen and ink, my students have successfully portrayed themselves in a very unique way. *UPDATED 1/29. Look closely at the amount of detail put into this work.
